So for those of you may not know, today is Bert’s birthday!! Yay!

Bert has been and continues to be an amazing blessing in my life. His love and support mean more to me than he will ever know. He is constantly encouraging me as we endure our long-distance relationship and the ups and downs that go along with that. His faith in me and in us is incredible, and I have the highest respect for him. I just wish I could spend today with him.

Happy Birthday Bert. I love you.

p.s. Feel free to leave your own personal birthday messages and wishes too!

A Surprise Trip to Birmingham!

So Friday at work, Bert sends me a text message and asks me if I would want to meet him in Birmingham the next day for a Foo Fighters concert. Of course, my response was, “Yes, please!” :) We both left on Friday…I left after work and Bert drove down Bob, Forby, and Mike. Bob and Mike stayed at a friend’s place while Forby, Bert, and I stayed with Bert’s aunt and uncle. It is about a 6 hour drive for both of us. It was a great, spontaneous weekend and I am sooo glad it happened. When we woke up on Saturday morning, it was snowing! It didn’t last long but it made a nice dusting on the ground. And of course, the concert was so much fun! Despite the fact that Bert and I got our tickets the day before the concert, we ended up getting better seats than everyone else! Bert got us great seats right next to the stage! So, even though it was a short trip, it was definitely worth it. Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2008

So have you all made your New Year’s resolutions yet? Yeah..I haven’t either. But I did have a really great holiday season! I spent Christmas Eve and Day in New Orleans with Stef’s family. Mom, Dad, and Janette came to Baton Rouge on the 26th and Bert got in on the 27th! Stef and Adam came in on the 28th too, and we just had ourselves a good ol time! It was so awesome having everyone here. Bert was here for 5 days!! I am pretty sure I speak for both of us when I say that we had a really great time together. Bert got to spend a lot of quality time with my family which was awesome. He came to church with me on Sunday, we went out to eat several times, caught a movie (p.s. Sweeny Todd was awful…sorry stef), watched several movies at the apartment, and just enjoyed our time together. He even got to go fabric shopping with me for work! I dropped him off early this morning at the airport, and we have no idea when we’ll see each other again. For those of you who are currently doing long-distance or who have ever had a long-distance relationship, I understand more and more how much distance really does make the heart grow fonder…
