The One Ring to rule them all

Ring in Case

So while Jasper is busy wedding planning (No, we don’t have a date yet!) I thought I’d upload some good pictures of the engagement ring and tell everyone a little bit about it. The story actually starts about 4 months ago when I went to New York for business. When I found out that I was going, I started looking for places in NYC that specialized in antique engagement rings which is what Jasper expressed she wanted. (I had already looked other places with nothing remarkable standing out) I found a few possible places to start out and I was able to extend my “business trip” through the weekend.

*Side Note* The day before I started shopping in New York, I actually met up with Janette (Jasper’s Sister) and Dave. It’s a good thing I didn’t tell her about it then or the whole world might have known beforehand. And she actually got mad at me for not meeting up with her later in the weekend, but I was busy.

The first place I went to didn’t have much of a selection, but they were very helpful in recommending a few other places to try out. So that’s what I did. The first couple of recommendations, were just kind of weird. They had nice rings, but they just weren’t professional, and I felt like I’d walk out not actually knowing what I got. But then I struck gold (or platinum) with one of the other recommendations. Doyle and Doyle (Check it out: http://www.doyledoyle.com/ ) They had/have an amazing selection of antique jewelry specializing in engagement rings. And for some reason, having to get buzzed in the door just made me feel better about the place. I immediately found about 3 rings I really liked, and after a couple trips back to the store and with some NY friends opinions I settled on the most expensive one. And I’m glad I did.

So onto the ring. It’s an authentic antique ring from the late 1920’s or early 1930’s with somewhat of an Art Deco style to it. It has one larger diamond in the middle and that’s surrounded on all sides by 16 other smaller diamonds. A humble 17 total. All of the detailed engraving that spans the entire ring is hand done, which is noticeable with very slight differences from one side to the next. And its been insured with State Farm since the day I got it…. knowing Jasper.

Hope you enjoy!

CONGRAT’S!!! Bert, you did an OUTSTANDING job, and you took your time to find just the perfect ring. It is gorgeous; I’m so anxious to see it (and both of you) in person. Four months is a long time to keep a secret like that. I’m so happy for ALL of US that you will become Mr. and Mrs. Jolley (and Jasper, you don’t even have to worry about changing your initials & monogram). Have patience & enjoy the time you spend planning your wedding. Love you lots - Granny Joan

Now we’re really in trouble! I just looked at Doyle & Doyle’s website - better keep Jasper (& Janette) and me out of there. I would be broke in no time. Of course, I can order on-line and not even have to go there. They have beautiful things; it’s fortunate someone steered Bert there. Love, Granny

    Jasper & Bert,
The ring… stunning. The pledge it represents… most precious. It is no doubt that you were guided from above into each other’s arms… A true match made in heaven. Papaw & I couldn’t be more happy for you!
Share and enjoy this time of planning. Let nothing overwhelm you… Relax and continue to make beautiful memories together…
