The Giant Shed
VIII. A lot’s happened since the last update. I know everyone has been missing the updates. The shed was stained. I installed the windows. I built custom doors. Built a ramp with an arch to the door. Did the rough-in wiring for electricity with Bob including installing a separate breaker box for the shed. Dug an 80′ trench by hand from the house to the shed for the main electricity line. I had my first of two electrical inspections just yesterday. (I hope I passed) And my parents helped landscaped the side a little. I’ve got a little more trim to do here and there, but soon it will be all inside stuff to finish. More pics of that to come, but for now enjoy the ones of the outside.
VII. I PASSED MY INSPECTION!! I was worried about a few things actually, and it took about a week to get them out there, but everything is good to go. And this weekend Me and Forby went ahead and finished all of the siding. (Or T1-11 if your looking for the technical name.) So next comes paint, trim, windows and doors… but not necessarily in that order. And then, dare I say, I’ll be finished?
VI. Finally got the roof finished. I think it turned out nice, but it took a lot longer than I thought. Probably about five full days worth. (which means about 3 weeks for me) The next step is the long awaited sheathing and framing inspection from the city. Hopefully they like my work.
V. Updated progress: Put on the roofing felt, cut out and installed the ridge vent. Added the soffting, cedar fascia board and finally the aluminum drip edge. Next step… Shingles.

III. The very next weekend, we(Me and Dad) finally got to go vertical and in a day and a half with a little rain we finished the walls.
II. The first weekend we (Me, Dad, and Forby) finished out the frame and the flooring. And also made the roof trusses.
I. Cleared the site, then brought in 3 truckloads of gravel. I used railroad ties to create somewhat of a skid foundation

OK; I give up! I’m old & I’m lost!
I must admit, it is quite nice. Can I move in there? Does it have a bar? Do I have to bring my own bed? Where can I keep my Beamer?
well, my mind says… nice shed… looks good! wish i was there to help!
I lost my key to the shed! Maybe we should just have a combination lock on it (no, at my age, I’d forget the combination). Do I need to bring my own American flag to fly?
Bert, it’s really looking good. I’m impressed! Before ya know it, it’ll all be done. What’s your next project?!
yea, so i am enjoying seeing the progress! shed looks great. i want to see updated pictures of your finger that makes playing a G chord impossible (hopefully for just a few months… ) but i am thrilled that i will get to see it in real life on saturday!
FANTASTIC!! Guess when you get the shed finished, and I get the Fla. condo finished, we’ll have to swap places for a weekend. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the condo on the beach after all your hard work - and I’m sure I’ll enjoy sleeping in the shed. (Maybe, some day, you’ll add photo’s of your house that goes with the shed.) LOL Granny
Congratulations on passing your inspection! Did they ask who the lucky equipment was that was going to “live” there? I say add a bathroom and rent it out. It’s much too well constructed to use just for storage.
I have a feeling there will be triple-pane windows with shutters and flower boxes. Without a doubt… the nicest and best constructed shed I’ve ever seen! Great job.
